Acquisition of Siebel Monitoring company

This article is interesting, if really old. The author notes that small software companies have trouble competeing against the big guys, even if their technology is better. Sounds very familiar to me. I noticed the story a long time ago about Precise Software, who had a Siebel Monitoring product. Viritas eventually bought the company and released the i3 Siebel monitoring solution. Veritas paid an astounding 609 million dollars for the company. WOW. I'd say that puts Recursive Technology in the 50 million dollar range, don't you think? ;) And I bet VA2 monitors Siebel better than i3.
