berkeley

Well, back to this blogg. Looks like its been a year plus since I used it. Tired of not having a place to record my thoughts. I'll use this as my electronic notebook, hopefully nobody reads it.

Well, it was an odd week. First week in Berkeley since we moved here. I had planned to go to Belize last Sunday night to meet up with Kevin and the rest of the readytech people. Turns out Karen sent off my passport 5 weeks ago, and we didn't figure that out unitl sunday. So I couldn't have gotten out of the country.. didn't break my heart, I was pretty happy to stay here and do some work and relax, but couldn't help but being supprised and then wish I had gone.

Work wise - a fair amount was accomplished. I spent time making a bunch of enhancements to VA2. Including archiving statics, an Oracle bug fix for accepting Analysis Rule changes, and lately and exhausting and ongoing fix to the processes when they loose connection to DBs. Last night by 2 in the morning I was asking myself what the hell I am doing working on this when nobody cares. Earlier this week I had worked myself into fantasy land based on the fact that I'm talking to Amgen about buying VA2 and Bellsouth, and the mind starts spirialing about the possiblities of being able to sell it. Still possible, but I need to start devoting more time like I did this week. Not a bad way to live, totally consumed by concentration, but odd. Society doesn't approve I suppose. And it makes it hard to have a good time. Although I had nice walk today in the Berkeley hills after last nights exesses in working, alone, under the california oaks, finished up on a log in the sun, overlooking the sparkling white san francisco bay, the bridge, green shoots poking out of the forest floor, finally winter and rain arrived, I shut my eyes and tried to meditate, happy again, again after all the frustration and typing.

now - of course, I'm back at it. I guess I'll talk about SAMP next time.
