where I spent my day

Well, I thought I would do a posting with a picture of our living room, which is an oasis of semi completeness in the construction zone we call our house. So on a lazy Sunday, I kicked back on our Reno-mushroom couch, punctuated by some paper work, watering duties, programming Perl, lunch with Karen and a Home depot run before I saw her off - i80 west to San Fran. I managed to strike out for a walk to Albertson's as well, and did a posting on Nick's excellent new website. Although I defaced the posting with an explicit title - so if you want to see it you better get over there before it gets edited.

Round The World tickets

I recently completed a 9-month trip, not exactly around the round but we did travel to 5 continents. The most asked question about my trip was what how I coordinated all those flights??

The answer was a Round The World ticket. I did a lot of research and ended up purchasing a Star Alliance RTW ticket, mostly because I have premiere executive status on United Airlines so I got beaucoup miles and had the privilege of getting better seats and use of the VIP lounges! They also priced their tickets based on mileage which I think is more flexible. Each of the airline alliances have good RTW ticket offerings, it really depends on your destinations and routing. Lots more info on The Travellers Lounge website for some RTW ticket comparisons.

If you are going to go with a Star Alliance RTW ticket, take a look at the pricing here. I live in the US but ended up buying a ticket in Germany because it cost me US$1000 less! Of course I also had enough miles for a free ticket to Europe so it worked out great!

Can’t decide what to do or just want to know how much your RTW routing will cost you? Check out this popular site for RTW tickets: http://www.airtreks.com
