Freshies

It's been DUMPING snow up here so today Charlie and I went out for another morning of fresh powder. There was 30-36inches of new snow at Mt.Rose!!!! Needless to say, it was fantastic!! It did get pretty windy and visibility was not great at times, when you get out of the trees, but it was worth it even though my cheeks and nose went numb for a some time there. It's still snowing up there so we might have to get there again tomorrow morning :)

1980 J10 Laraedo

Here is a J10 Jeep I'm looking at, for $1500. It won't pass emissions though, which means $200 of work at least. The main issue is we don't really NEED a truck. So the real question is how much do I WANT a truck? It runs nicely, but I wasn't impressed with the 4WD system. It wasn't easy to put in 4wd, and I couldn't tell if it was really in low range -if it was the low range is really high, especially compared to the Jeep J10 stick-shift granny low range gears, which are like tractors. Here are some pics, a side view, other side, front , and at the failed emissions test.

Gambling

Eversince we moved up here, people have been asking us if we frequent the casinos - the answer is no, we only go when we have guests in town, like this past Friday night. Our friends Rana and Andrew and a couple of their friends came up for a visit and some skiing and we took them out to the Eldorado for some Reno fun. None of us gamble big so we took out $20, went to a blackjack table and managed to play for at least an hour! I won $5, Andrew won $20 and Charlie, who was breaking even up till the very last hand, decided to bet it all and lost it all. It was a fun night of small gambling, maybe we will visit the casinos a little more often ;)

POW POW

It snowed more than a foot last night on the mountains so Charlie and I got up early and headed for Mt.Rose, a mere 30 minutes away door-to-door, with our snowboards for some fresh pow pow!!

We weren't the first to get there but we did manage to find some first tracks and lots of deep powder!! My friend Marika lent me her made-for-powder Salomon Ivy board and it was QUITE amazing on powder!! We left after 2.5 hours of non-stop fun and when the snow got tracked up. Charlie headed to work and I headed for a nap at home, and dreamed of more fresh powder.
