I haven't used ofoto in a while but since we filled up our uploading quota on flickr I thought I would upload some on ofoto. I didn't even realize that we have a ton of photos from previous trips and wedding on there so I added them as links over on the right hand column here. Check them out! Spanish photos will be coming soon.
Ah...I finally heard back from the graduate public health programs I applied to! And I got accepted to my first choice, Berkeley!! Yay!! Now I have to deal with the question to go or not to go. It will be tough one especially when I only have a few weeks to decide.
In other news, I got a couple weeks of consulting work coming up. It's been a while! Yea, I don't really consider snowboard instruction as real work, that's fun work. Consulting is work for money. My minimum wage pay at Alpine only sometimes cover the gas. I can't say I am psyched to take on the consulting gig but at least that will give me some spending money and if i do a lot of work this summer, maybe it will pay for grad school!
Here is a J10 Jeep I'm looking at, for $1500. It won't pass emissions though, which means $200 of work at least. The main issue is we don't really NEED a truck. So the real question is how much do I WANT a truck? It runs nicely, but I wasn't impressed with the 4WD system. It wasn't easy to put in 4wd, and I couldn't tell if it was really in low range -if it was the low range is really high, especially compared to the Jeep J10 stick-shift granny low range gears, which are like tractors. Here are some pics, a side view, other side, front , and at the failed emissions test.
ok, got the last part of the recursive site moved... thank god. The blog took a while. Using ixwebhosting.com. Generally pleased so far.
Well, I've been avoiding posting, since I'm not truly traveling. Though I do live in hotels....does that count? Packed up the Car in Mountain View from Karen’s house and headed over the Sierras on Monday, Oct 7th, 5 AM. The unfortunate realization that I don't indeed have a place to live besides hotels for the next few months is sinking in.
My current digs are the Plaza Hotel in Carson City. Thought I'd give it a try, since it's close to work, have a good weekly rate, and a kitchen. I had been staying in the luxurious Sienna, which I far prefer, in Reno. They have free high speed internet access, pool, spa, and workout room. Needless to say, the Plaza has been a big let down, including an adventure in buying my own food this week, and finding there were no pots to cook with in the kitchen. They stopped providing them, according to the front desk, because they were routinely stolen.
I'm headed back to the Sienna fo' sho, even though it will cost me 70 miles a day on my leased car that is nearly out of miles!
So, though its not really traveling, you may look forward to several months of dreary posts about Nevada lifestyle... or perhaps I'll save it.
